Where to Stay in Samal Island: La Vida Orchard

by Rizanoia

When it comes to traveling the province of Davao del Norte, the Island Garden City of Samal is usually one of the top tourist destinations. Some of the best attractions you shouldn’t miss are the Giant Clam Sanctuary and Hagimit Falls. That being said, budget-friendly accommodation is a must and it’s the La Vida Orchard Samal Bed and Breakfast.

As soon as we arrived at Davao Airport, we advised them that we will be checking in late as we experienced delayed flight. Also, the first destination in our itinerary was Talikud Island. Sir Ninio (owner of La Vida Orchard) replied back by welcoming us in Davao.

After Talikud Island, we took a boat going to Kaputian Wharf and headed to La Vida Orchard via habal-habal. As we arrived in the reception area, the receptionist happily assisted us in checking in. There was also a 200 PHP key deposit which they gave back upon our check-out.

ACCOMMODATION

Upon entering the rooms I felt a country vibe ambiance. It has air-conditioner with a private bathroom. Since our day 1 was kinda exhausted, I took a rest for a few minutes and immediately took a bath to freshen up.

FOOD

We had our dinner outside on our first night. And as we get back, we met Sir Ninio and had a coffee talk and both parties shared travel stories. It was one of the best coffee talks I had with a local in Davao.

In the morning, we had our complimentary continental breakfast that includes specially made corn coffee, toast, and jam. Self-service breakfast is available between 6-10am only.
