When I looked at the location of Casa Amapola in the Google Map it looks like it is inside a private village in Makati so we just decided to book a private car going there.
As we reached our destination, we asked ourselves if we were in the right place. I was expecting signage saying Casa Amapola but we only saw the unit number 257. As a first impression, it looks like an old residential house turned into a Boutique Bed and Breakfast. We rung the bell and a guy (a staff maybe) greeted and welcomed us.
Upon check-in, he asked for our booking voucher and a valid ID. After verification, he brought us to our room on the second floor.

ROOM AND BED
Our room Una Emocion was spacious, has a king size bed, 2 chairs with white furry mat, a sofa, office chair, cable TV and has its own bathroom. It has a vintage vibe with classic interiors and tango-themed pictures. The 2 paintings on the wall and the 2 chandeliers also added accent to the overall ambiance of the room. One thing we had concerned about was the air conditioning that was not too cold. We felt the hot temperature inside the room. We asked the personnel to check it out but after he made some adjustment in the remote controller it seems like nothing happened. The room just got a bit cold at night. They also have 2 WIFI connections available that can let you upload photos and browse websites.
As we went back from dinner, the staff showed us their menu for breakfast and let us choose (Filipino or American) and gave our preferred serving time. It was served on time the next day. We finished our breakfast quietly and went upstairs to prepare our things for early check-out.
Casa Amapola is for travelers, journalists or writers who like a quiet place or accommodation. But for those looking for a fun staycation with family and friends, I won’t recommend this place. Also, for its value for money, I can say that this is pricey due to its location and the structure of the place. I was expecting a hotel-type ambiance but what we saw was an old-renovated residential house turned into a bed and breakfast accommodation. As an addition, the air ventilation was really disappointing. I’ve read reviews about them (the same room) on other booking sites and the customer also had the same issue about the air-conditioning. For the service, staffs were not talkative but attentive to our concern or requests during our stay.
On the other hand, I will still continue and recommend to use Travelbook.ph when booking hotel accommodations. Just do further research before booking.
